WHO DID THIS?
My name is Mose Hayward, and I'm responsible this shameless enterprise. I was born in Iowa City, USA, and began my un-American drinking in Barcelona, as a Fulbright scholar in dramatic writing and physical comedy. I stayed on for a while as a staff writer for Leonart for Spain's TVE. Meanwhile, a major, surprisingly conservative American publisher took the hit on publishing my humor book, now out of print in both the USA and Canada. I then went to Brazil and wrote portions of several Time Out guides. I've since spent some time in Berlin, Tirana, Edinburgh, Belgrade, Saint Petersburg and Istanbul. Now I'm mainly in Paris.
I'm fluent in Catalan, French, Portuguese, and Spanish; my Italian is pretty decent; my Russian is terrible but rapidly improving; I have survival-level Serbian and German; and I have studied and promptly forgotten some Turkish.
The header art on this website is by Brazilian-French artist Johanna Thomé de Souza (site in French). The drawing of me above is lifted from one of her cartoons.
While I'm solely responsible for any errors, the insight into the world's drinking, partying and fornicating habits has been gathered from hundreds of tiddly sources (from seniors in Albania to teenagers in Spain) who have generously shared their time and knowledge over the last decade.
It's wrong to give us your drunken insights for free! Can't we buy something? Please?
